[FairRetailRecordings] #0050 -- Lew Card -- The Curse In My Blood And The Hole In My Shoe

#0050

I really love this song. It says a lot (to me) about why people do the things they do. Sometimes, you don't have a choice.

Artist: Lew Card
Date: 2009.09.10

[FairRetailRecordings] #0035 -- Peewee Moore & Friends -- G For Jesus Fun Time Hour

Another epic jam with lots of ins and out and what-have-yous. This time, it's 13 minutes long and it's Peewee Moore with Lew Card (mandolin), Jason Daly (acoustic guitar) and Pete The Beat (snare & high hat) kicking up the dust running through just about every bluegrass gospel standard without taking a pause. There's some audience participation towards the end around the 12 minute mark.

Artist: Peewee Moore & Friends

Enjoy. And support your local music scene.

Peewee Moore Live @ The Mean Eyed Cat 2009.09.14

Attended a really excellent semi-impromptu (if nothing else, sparsely rehearsed) jam at the Mean Eyed Cat last night for happy hour. Peewee Moore (formerly of the Tennessee Rounders) was joined by Austin musicians Lew Card (mandolin), Jason Daly (acoustic guitar) & Pete Langhans (snare & high hat) for ninety minutes of acoustic honky tonk. One of the most enjoyable shows I've seen in a while. Be sure to check out the fifteen minute jam on the "G For Jesus Fun Time Hour" covering all the traditional gospel covers and "Army Plane".

[FairRetailRecordings] #0018 -- Lew Card -- Biscuits

Here's part two of our Reid Wilson & His So-Called Friends two-fer. This is Lew Card performing a slower, bluesy version of "Biscuits" that seems less about breakfast food and more about amore than the mailing from Tuesday.

Reid's new disc "Country Music Revolution" is out today. The CD release show is tonight at the Mean Eyed Cat. See you there.

The last three have been fantastic. Check out the audio from the previous shows here:

Mean Eyed Cat Songwriter Night Part 2

Here's the second installment of the Mean Eyed Cat's Songwriter Night hosted by Lew Card from the Gunhands.  Performing here are Betty Soo, Jenny Parrott (of Shotgun Party), Joey Thompson (of the Archibalds) and Jubal Lee Young.

We really liked this installment of the Songwriter Night.  There's a good deal of versatility among the songwriters in this recording ranging the gamut from serious to humorous to thought provoking and everything in between.  Enjoy this.

Mean Eyed Cat Songwriter Night

Here's a recent show from the Mean Eyed Cat. Lew Card (from the Gunhands) has started hosting a monthly songwriter night (first Mondays) at the Cat. This was the first installment featuring, Lew, Aimie Bobruck, Brennen Leigh and Kevin Galloway (from Uncle Lucius).

They took turns at their songs for the better part of two hours. For the more twang-loving (and less singer-songwriter-loving) among you, be sure to check out all of Brennen Leigh's songs. She has some excellent country chops that she's not afraid to show off here.
