Peewee Moore Live @ The Mean Eyed Cat 2009.09.14

Attended a really excellent semi-impromptu (if nothing else, sparsely rehearsed) jam at the Mean Eyed Cat last night for happy hour. Peewee Moore (formerly of the Tennessee Rounders) was joined by Austin musicians Lew Card (mandolin), Jason Daly (acoustic guitar) & Pete Langhans (snare & high hat) for ninety minutes of acoustic honky tonk. One of the most enjoyable shows I've seen in a while. Be sure to check out the fifteen minute jam on the "G For Jesus Fun Time Hour" covering all the traditional gospel covers and "Army Plane".

In honor of stopping by the Texas Chili Parlor yesterday, having a Mad Dog Margarita (and eating the worm) and talking about this song with no fewer than five people last night, here's Guy Clark's Dublin Blues. One of the greatest songs ever written.

[FairRetailRecordings] #0019 -- Reid Wilson & His So-Called Friends with James Rider -- Dirty Girls

Hot, hot, hot off the presses to round out Reid Wilson week here at FRR, I present this performance from last night's Country Music Revolution CD Release show. This one a bit of bawdy side in the vein of a traditional Irish drinking ballad (which it's technically not, I suppse). James Rider joins in the revelry on this one. If memory serves, this song was written by friend of James' from Pennsylvania.

[FairRetailRecordings] #0018 -- Lew Card -- Biscuits

Here's part two of our Reid Wilson & His So-Called Friends two-fer. This is Lew Card performing a slower, bluesy version of "Biscuits" that seems less about breakfast food and more about amore than the mailing from Tuesday.

Reid's new disc "Country Music Revolution" is out today. The CD release show is tonight at the Mean Eyed Cat. See you there.

Venue: The Mean Eyed Cat, Austin, TX
Track: Biscuits
