[FairRetailRecordings] #0084 -- Will Kimbrough -- Another Train

#0084

Ah, Will Kimbrough. I've made no secret about my Kimbrough-love through the years. And it runneth deep. Will is such a great talent and he's finally starting to get some major love in the form of getting a cut ("Wings") on the latest Jimmy Buffett record in addition to his own great records. But this isn't "Wings". This is FRR's First Annual Month of Train Songs, baby! As such, I've included another of Will's efforts called "Another Train" from Stingaree a few years ago.

Enjoy. And support your local music scene.

Will Kimbrough @ The Stingaree Music Festival

Will Kimbrough (site, myspace) had a set at Hayes Carll's Stingaree Music Festival in Crystal Beach, Texas over the weekend. I've always loved Will solo stuff especially tunes like "Piece of Work", "I Don't Like It" and "God Send". He really comes through on this set with a few newer ones like "Another Train", "Hill Country Girl" and "Wings That You Can't See" and wholly reaffirms his status as a great solo performer and fantastic songwriter.

If you don't listen to anything else, check out the last track which is the aforementioned "Wings That I You Can't See."

Corb Lund, Roger Marin & Romi Mayes Song Swap

This was a really enjoyable little song swap from Hayes Carll's Stingaree Music Festival last year. This song swap features Corb Lund (site, myspace), Roger Marin (site, myspace) and Romi Mayes (site, myspace). The most enjoyable thing about this set for me is seeing the early, rough versions of several of Corb Lund's tunes that ended up slightly different on his latest record, Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier!. Marin's and Mayes' tunes were also fine on this Sunday morning...
